5 Things to Love About Japanese

I was in Japan some months ago. It was my first time traveling there and probably one of the best decision in my life. Going there really makes me believe that there still good people out there. Haha. Though I was only there for 2 weeks, here are 5 reasons why I like Japanese people when I travel to Japan:

1) The people are helpful

If you don’t know the direction, you don’t have to worry because everyone will help you. I was helped a lot of time when I was in Japan. One was when I asked a girl about the train platform. She didn’t know, so she tried to look it up on her phone. After that, she lead me to the right platform, which was pretty far from the previous platform. We had to climb many stairs to reach that platform. When she’s finished guiding us, she even research more and tell me how many station and how long I’d be in the train. After that, she went back to her original platform which was located far from my platform. What an angel T_T

2) They know how to stay in line

They are very discipline and really understand how to stay in line. Simple example was when I was in the restroom. I was checking on my makeup in front of the mirror. Keep in mind that the mirror was huge. But then a woman was standing behind me waiting for me to finish touching up. I was very mesmerized at how she’s patiently waiting behind me. I never saw anything like that before haha :( I usually encounters with aggressive people in my life.

3) Children know how to behave

In Japan, it’s not only the adults who have nice attitude. Even children also has nice attitude. I encounter this for several times. One of which was when I was at Disney Sea. That time, I was casually taking whole bunch of photos in a bridge. Pretty close from my spot, I saw a boy –who was probably 5 years old- singing while doing a bit of a fast walking while also swinging his hands. I was getting ready to pause my photo session (ew, session. What’s better word than this though lol) and let him walk in front of me. But, nope. He stopped and walked behind my mom. Which in the conclusion was, he realized that he shouldn’t block someone who’s taking picture and chose to walk behind the ‘photographer’. Wowww such a beautiful little soul T.T

4) They are very punctual

The public transportation was nice. I remember the screen of the train said something like ‘I’m sorry we’re going to be late for 2 minutes’. When I read that I was like, whattt??? They said sorry even when they’re only late for 2 minutes. Again, that was something that I never encounter before. I really appreciate their punctuality. 

5) They are very polite

Whether you’re older than that person, or younger than that person they will be very polite. This really surprise me. O. M. G. I even feel guilty whenever I remember this particular event. So I was in the train, (I don’t know what they call it, is it subway? Or MRT?). Since I was tired, I leaned at the back and closed my eyes. When the train almost stopped at one station, I suddenly felt that someone accidently nudge my foot. Of course I reflectively open my eyes and try to find what happened. But then, I saw a grandma bowing so many times to me while saying Japanese phrase which I greatly believe “I’m sorry”. Yo, I was so confused because that time, the train had stopped and she kept bowing to me while trying to get off the train -since the train wouldn’t stop for too long-. It was so odd and I felt very guilty because I opened my eyes huhu T.T I should’ve just pretended to not realize about my foot being accidentally nudged. I’m sorry granny T.T
